The International Business Development Branch facilitates business connections between companies and organizations in British Columbia with those in the Asia Pacific, the United States and Europe. These links promote export growth in goods and services, attract foreign investment into British Columbia, and drive innovation by fostering collaborative technological research and development.
The Branch's activities include delivering inbound and outbound trade and investment missions by government and industry and enhancing B.C.’s international marketing profile at major trade shows and events.
The International Business Development Branch is also a centre of international market expertise as it carries out international relations roles through its geographic portfolio managers.
The Province's network of International Trade and Investment Representative Offices in Asia, the United States and Europe is managed by the Branch. These offices promote our province as a destination for trade and investment, a leader in research and development, as well as showcasing B.C. products and resources in these key markets. In addition, the Trade and Investment Representative Offices also support the mandates of other British Columbia ministries including the developing social and academic relationships and can be called on to assist in- and out-bound trade and government missions.
